Beaconsfield Services Review – Oct 25

Beaconsfield Services on the M40 is in the Premier League of Motorway services, but prices reflect that status

Beaconsfield Services is located at Junction 2 of the M40 – you leave the motorway and access the services from a roundabout where you can also access the A355. It is operated by Extra who run 10 service stations across the UK. It opened in 2009 and benefits from a larger footprint

Beaconsfield is a well equipped services with a wide choice of food outlets including McDonalds, KFC, Chopstix, El Mexicana, Greggs and Starbucks. There is an Ibis Budget hotel on site and a good number of Gridserve EV chargers

Unique Feature

Uniquely there is also a Wetherspoons on site – ‘The Hope and Champion’ – Britains only Motorway pub which opened in 2014. Despite some initial controversy it has remained open and gained fans along the way. There are worse places to break down!

Prices

ItemPrice
Fuel£1.59 / £1.69 (Petrol / Diesel)
EV Charging£0.85 per kwh
Mars Bar£1.99
Coffee£4.50
Coke£3.29

A Mars bar for £1.99 was a shock to see – even when it can be part of a meal deal.

£3.29 for a bottle of coke is also a stretch, though perhaps it helps you come to terms with a coffee costing £4.50

By comparison Petrol and Diesel prices are fairly normal for a motorway services.

Overall Rating

8/10 – Overall Beaconsfield is a good place to stop, with plenty of choices to get food from and a bonus point for having a Spoons! It usually scores well in the Which! ratings and it we have to agree.
