It 59 miles it is not a long one but it is a smart one (allegedly) being upgraded to become the UK’s first smart motorway which means it does not have dedicated hard shoulder

M3 Service Stations
Let’s face it, no motorway journey is complete without a caffeine refuel or a questionable fast food binge. Here’s where you can pull over and recharge along the M3:
- Fleet Services (between Junctions 4a and 5):
The main pit stop on the M3, Fleet is a proper motorway classic. Expect all the usual suspects — Costa, Burger King, WHSmith — and a leafy setting if you fancy some fresh air. - Winchester Services (between Junctions 8 and 9):
The dramatic sweep through the cutting made for the motorway at Twyford down is one of the more dramatic UK motorway scenes Split between northbound and southbound areas, Winchester Services are smaller but mighty. Great for a quick pit stop, clean loos, and a Greggs run if you’re lucky.
M3 Junctions
The M3 has 14 junctions. Starting out as the A316 it connects with the A308 at Junction 1 before linking up to the mighty M25 at Junction 2. At Junction 14 it joins the M27 heading eastwards towards Portsmouth or West towards Southampton Docks and Bournemouth
